Perhaps an app will come along to help leverage this. Rules for Do not disturb are definitely useful but they could have allowed more flexibility. You can turn these rules on or off at your own discretion. The rules based on time let you set any day and time slot for triggering Do not disturb. It doesn’t let you choose a specific event from the selected calendar as a trigger which is very disappointing. Tap Add Rule to create a custom rule name it, and choose whether it will be triggered at a certain date & time, or during an event.įor rules based on an event, you can specify which calendar’s events should trigger Do not distrub. If the pre-configured rules do not meet your needs you can create your own rules. The rules let you configure a separate time for Do not disturb to turn on during the weekends and the weekdays, or during an event. When turning Do not disturb on for an event, you can select which calender’s events it should turn on for. You will see the pre-configured rules listed there. To create a rule for Do Not Disturb, go to the Settings app and under Sound & notifications, tap Do not disturb. Here’s how you can create rules for the Do Not Disturb feature in Android 6.0. By default, the GAPPS applications package (Google Play and other Google pre-installed) are cut in it, but these are still half. The feature is very basic but exceptionally useful nonetheless. These rules may be based on time, or an event in your calendar. The rules allow you to create multiple scenarios that will trigger Do Not Disturb. As of Android 6.0, it has been renamed to Do Not Disturb and it now comes with configurable rules. The feature at the time was called Interruptions. Android 5.0 introduced Do Not Disturb a feature that allowed you to silent all notifications on your phone for a specific time on certain days. Users are typically rewarded with membership benefits dependent on the amount of money they pay to the channel. The playlist cant be sorted, saved or manipulated in any useful way (at time of writing), but when you hit 'Play all' or pick a video you can use the shuffle button in the playlist. Restricted access to advertising revenue has led to some creators on the service trying to make money through subscription company Patreon, which lets viewers make a payment once a month. You dont need to have a particular video. The company had come under pressure over how adverts were placed on extremist videos, and introduced the new rules after an advertiser backlash. The move comes amid concerns that YouTube channels are having their content "demonetized" - stripped of adverts - as stricter "advertiser-friendly" content rules make it harder for creators to host adverts on their videos. People watching the livestream can pay the creator to get their comment noticed through a feature that's already on the platform called "super chat." In addition, YouTube announced a new livestreaming feature called "premieres," which lets channels pre-record a video and upload it as a livestream. YouTube said this feature would only be available to U.S.-based creators with more than 10,000 subscribers. Previously, channels would have to include a link to an external provider to ask subscribers to buy merchandise. YouTube has also partnered with custom merchandise company Teespring to let creators sell their own merchandise directly through the platform. So, if Kanye West couldn’t turn things around for the streamer, what hope does Jay Z have? Better yet, what hope does the streaming platform have for its future? If it continues to operate in the same way, none at all. He also only brought in 1.5 million new subscribers (or so TIDAL claims). In a bitter public feud with his former “Big Brother,” Kanye West admitted that he lost millions by launching The Life of Pablo exclusively on TIDAL. And they have yet to comment on a report detailing a high number of fraudulent subscriptions. The company last reported that it reached 3 million subscribers in May of 2016. But there’s also the reality that Jay Z’s star power isn’t doing the trick for TIDAL’s suffering business model. The first is probably to avoid sharing its low number of paid subscriptions and 4:44 takers. Why did TIDAL refuse to release its streaming numbers? Two possible reasons. In an attempt to leverage his humongous following to. The rapper publicly snubbed Spotify, however, a move that may cost him dearly (now and in the future). Rap superstar Jay-Z today launched his brand new album titled 4:44 exclusively on Tidal (the streaming music service that he owns). That may change next week as the album recently dropped on Apple Music and Amazon. That proved true as Jay Z’s TIDAL-only 4:44 failed to appear on the Billboard 200. Unlike the RIAA, Billboard maintained that self-purchased downloads wouldn’t count on their charts. 4:44 was released as an exclusive to Sprint and Tidal customers, and is the first in. 4:44 is the fourteenth studio album and thirteenth solo album by American rapper Jay-Z. In other words, Sprint/TIDAL bought stuff from Sprint/TIDAL and earned a record for it. Listen free to JAY-Z 4:44 (Kill Jay Z, The Story of O.J. Less than a week after 4:44 came out, it went Platinum. So, the RIAA basically decided to change those rules. We all go through ups and downs with friends, but JAY-Z and Kanye West ’s troubles are more public than most. The album didn’t go platinum, as the RIAA refused to count Samsung-purchased downloads as part of its Gold & Platinum Program. JAY-Z’s Subliminals Towards Kanye West On ‘4:44’ Are Pretty Heartbreaking. He's a big fan of the new 4:44 project, but because he's not on that Tidal tip, he had to get a friend to hook him up with a copy of the new project when it dropped.Four years ago, Jay Z released Magna Carta Holy Grail exclusively on Samsung. One of those seekers just so happened to be Snoop Dogg, who is also on the outside looking in when it comes to music streaming services. After many hip-hop fans used their free trial of Tidal to stream The Life of Pablo in 2016, they were left with few options to hear 4:44 on release night and resorted to desperately looking for a zip file with all of the songs on it. That last part is important, because Jay Z dropped his new 4:44 project exclusively on Tidal, leaving a lot of fans out in the cold during the initial wave of listening. With a few presses on my phone screen, I can access an artist's (nearly) complete catalog in mere seconds, provided I have a subscription to the right streaming service. In Caught Their Eyes, one of the tracks on Jay Z’s new album, 4:44, the rapper calls out a figure now at the center of controversy surrounding the Prince estate: Prince’s former attorney. You don't have to wait around for radio stations to play a new single or pick up a physical copy of an album in order to have it in your library. There has never been an easier time to access music than the era we're currently living in. He complains about this to Azmuth, who merely blames Ben's lack of dexterity and habit of smacking the watch too hard (it's worth noting that Ben at times has visibly selected the wrong alien and failed to notice). It has reached a point where Ben doesn't even try to select an alien and just push the dial while hoping for the best.
There's also a pack of explosives with a strap, a nod to the original 1982 "commando" Snake-Eyes. The two pistols, one of which can be fitted with a second itty bitty silencer. There's the classic UZI, with a teeny tiny removable silencer. There's also another knife that fits into a sheath on his right leg.Īnd we haven't even mentioned the guns yet. Then there's a third sword which is in the exaggerated style of the 1985 classic Snake-Eyes Generation 1 figure. Then there are his two curved katana-style swords, with two sheaths that attach to both the rear shoulder and waist sections of his webgear. Also mentioned was the removable knife sheath on the shoulder, and there's a tiny knife that goes in it. Well, there's the complex webgear I mentioned Ultimately Hasbro decided to include both heads in the same package, which was a nice gesture for the fans. One would feature the medieval looking "ninja" style facemask, while the other would be packaged with the original "commando" goggles and ski-mask look. Originally, this figure was to be released in two evenly packed variants. Often, there's no way for the figure to hold all or even most of its accessories, which is one thing that always bugs me. However, at some point we must stop and ask ourselves: how many accessories is too many accessories for a single figure? As the line presses on, it seems like each successive series is packed with more and more accessorives to the point where it's excessive. Like his sixth-scale Sideshow doppelganger, DB SE V2 comes loaded with accessories, as we've come to expect from the Pursuit of Cobra line. Though some of the figures with new wrist joints get a different direction of hinge on either hand, both of SE's are hinged so that the hands move up and down on the wrist, rather than inward or outward. New articulation into its Joes, and Snakes gets the new-fangled pegged and hinged wrist joints and double-hinged knees in addition to the standard Joe fare. His kneepads are a dark grey, and the trademark Arashikage i-ching design is present on his right bicep, while his left has a new-styled GI Joe logo. He's mostly flat black, with gloss applied to his facemask, gloves, boots, holsters, and straps. This being Snake-Eyes, the paint is sparse but effective. On top of his duds he's got some complex webgear, with loads of sculpted straps and buckles, a working removable knife sheath on the shoulder strap, and some straps that hang down between his legs made of real elastic. None of it is too innovative, but it takes an iconic design and really ramps up the detail. He's wearing a simple but nicely detailed knitted sweater and some black cargo pants, with some cool kneepads to spice up the look. This particular version of Snakes is, as we said, made up of all new molds, and borrows heavily in its design from the high-end, 1:6 scale Snake-Eyes figure released by Sideshow Collectibles. While this second DB SE release is an all-new figure, it still might be confusing, especially since you can still find the first DB SE on many store shelves. The first, a decent figure in its own right, was originally planned as an Arctic figure, but was recolored as a more generic SE and shoehorned into the desert. So, first off: this is the second Snake-Eyes in the Pursuit of Cobra line packaged in the "Desert Battle" theme. He is armed with a pistol, submachine gun and swords to battle anyone who tries to stop him from reaching his target. As the team fights Cobra forces in the desert, Snake-Eyes slips behind enemy lines to blow up Cobra fortifications. Snake-Eyes is the GI Joe team's ninja commando and martial arts master. However, they somehow manage to keep on pumping out new Snake-Eyes figures that are totally worth buying. "Snake-Eyes Fatigue" is prominent in the Joe community. You would think after so many figures of the character, they would be hard-pressed to come up with a new version that fans would flip over. Hasbro is pretty amazing when it comes to its resident badass, commando/ninja Snake-Eyes. Snake-Eyes (v.2) GI Joe: Pursuit of Cobra B u y t h e t o y s, n o t t h e h y p e. I hope that the next CoD game really shakes things up and does something completely different with the multiplayer. If you’re already a huge fan of CoD multiplayer then you might really enjoy MW3‘s offering, but as someone who has played a whole lot of CoD multiplayer over the years I seem to have just gotten bored with it. The unlock, perk, and kill streak systems have been improved, but again don’t really change much when it comes down to actually playing a match. The maps are as varied as the game types, but everything still feels the same. I do like how the map design has streamlined the flow of gameplay, but it’s not enough to keep me playing. Every match plays almost identical to the previous. MW3 features 16 new maps and a few new game modes, but still feels exactly the same as every other edition of the game. Every year a CoD game is released I spend an insane amount of time getting to know the maps and unlocking all the weapons, but this year I got sick of it a lot quicker than I have in before. However, I feel that CoD’s reward-driven multiplayer has gotten a bit stale. I mean, CoD always has a robust and compelling multiplayer component. To say that the multiplayer in MW3 is robust is getting old. MW3 also brings itself to a very satisfying conclusion, one that I felt was far better than any of the others I’ve seen in the Modern Warfare series. I can’t really go into much more detail without spoiling the story, but I will say that not everyone makes it to see the world return to peace. I got to spend enough time with each unit that I actually cared what happened to them, just like a real soldier. I am happy to say that I really didn’t get this feeling from MW3. I found that Modern Warfare 2‘s narrative jumped around too much which prevented me from really getting to know anyone. The story is well paced and a lot more focused this time around. The scripting is exceptionally well done you never know what might happen until it’s almost too late. There are also a few missions as other characters to help punctuate the action and tie the entire story together.Īlmost everything about the single-player campaign has been improved since Modern Warfare 2. Additionally you will also spend a good deal of time playing as Delta Force operative Sgt. The main story centers around the now disavowed members of Task Force 141 as they continue to hunt for Russian ultranationalist and seriously evil dude Vladimir Makarov, who still has a few cards to play in this high stakes poker game. Call of Duty‘s split narrative is back, which means you’ll be playing as a few different soldiers throughout the game. It’s World War III, and you’re along for the ride. What began as a simple invasion of the US by Russian forces in Modern Warfare 2 has now become a global conflict in MW3, involving the likes of Germany, France, England, and other NATO allied countries. To paraphrase the words of the great American satirist Kurt Vonnegut, the excrement has really hit the air conditioning as we begin the single-player campaign of MW3. It’s a solid package the most people can get behind, but as other shooters continue to push the envelope in the realm of multiplayer, it’s possible that MW3’s multiplayer might just get left in the dust. Aside from the great single-player experience, Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) also features a robust yet slightly stagnant multiplayer mode, and the surprisingly compelling Special Ops mode which is where the game stretches its cooperative legs. Fight through the streets of Paris, the London Tube system, villages of Sierra Leone and even the cramped quarters of a Russian submarine as it threatens to wipe the entire eastern seaboard clean off the map. Lock and load for for a globetrotting adventure of scripted action at it’s finest. Call of Duty ( CoD) is back with another addition to Activision’s yearly action franchise, and this time not only is it personal, but also global. This is where the PS3 shines, Filippov says. In that particular scene, Kratos has to navigate the craggy, earthen skin and foliage covering Gaia, as up to two dozen enemies at a time make their own way around the Titan's body features to attack him. "The reason is you need to recalculate that entire surface-all of Gaia's skin-and you need to calculate collisions for all the dozens of enemies climbing on and sticking to that surface." "The Gaia scene is an example of something that wouldn't fly on the 360," Filippov says. Although the Kronos fight was a technical challenge, a sequence where Kratos travels the length of the Titan Gaia was even more complicated. They are fully-rendered, exceptionally detailed character models, with stable proportions (Kronos's hand doesn't simply swell as it approaches, as the Colossus's hand did) and shifting textures that push the limits of the PS3's hardware. Although previous games, including God of War titles, have featured large enemies, the new game's Titans are presented not as scripted events or optical illusions. There are new types of gameplay that weren't possible with the previous hardware."Īt the risk of banging an old and extremely battered drum, God of War III's use of scale is another example of a technical trick that, according to Filippov, only the PlayStation 3 can pull off. "They have pliable skin that bends, and you can climb on that skin. Now, they are part of the environment that you interact with," he says. "Back then, the large characters that we had were essentially a backdrop set piece. And no matter how much bigger the enemies have gotten, comparing raw numbers doesn't do the new game justice, Filippov says. But even that stone behemoth was just one-sixth the size of Kronos, according to God of War III's lead programer, Vassily Filippov. The sequel upped the ante with a centerpiece battle with the Godzilla-size Collossus of Rhodes. The first God of Warfeatured a duel between the 7-foot-tall protagonist, Kratos, and a massive Hydra. Giant creatures are a staple of the God of War series, and there are other Titans in this game, which depicts their mythological war with the Greek gods. When God of War III comes out on Tuesday, March 16, for the PlayStation 3, gaming will have its own Burj Khalifa-Kronos, the 1600-foot-tall boss. In games like 2005's Shadows of the Colossus and 2008's Resistance 2, bosses measure in the hundreds of feet, with increasingly realistic in-game physics to govern their virtual mass. Remember King Koopa, the princess-kidnapping, turtle-like despot of Super Mario Bros? He might have topped out at 12 or 13 feet on a good day. When they're the enemy, these digital heirs to the Krakens and Leviathans of classic mythology are called bosses. In the video-game world, the most impressive architecture is the living, breathing kind vast monsters that dwarf your on-screen protagonist. It has been launched into space and threatens to blot out the sun. For size-conscious architects, the gauntlet hasn't been thrown. At 2717 feet it towers above the competition-it's more than two and a half times the size of the Chrysler tower, and while the previous top five highest buildings were all within a couple of hundred feet of each other, the 160-story Burj Khalifa beats the old world-record-holder, the Taipei 101, by some 900 feet. When the Burj Khalifa was completed earlier this year in Dubai, it became more than just the tallest building in the world.
Against this, Uncharted 4 comes off as a quieter game. Uncharted 2 has other incredible moments, including a fight with a helicopter (that at one point blew up the building you were in) and a battle with a tank that chased you across an entire village. So, even though I was playing it for the first time, it felt like a rerun. Sadly, the impact of that set piece is lower because Sony showed the entire thing during its E3 press conference last year. Even Uncharted 4 doesn’t have a level that’s as good.Īn Uncharted 4 scene where Nate and Sully escape a city on a truck comes close to the train level. The scale of it was ridiculous for its time, but it’s even crazier that nothing has surpassed it. Drake fought his way through and on top of a speeding locomotive as it steamed its ways past beautiful landscapes. But, besides that, I appreciate how it makes Drake’s adventure about more than headshots and explosions. Heck, mechanically, the shooting actually feels better than it does in Uncharted 2, and its larger environments make battles more fun than the narrow fights in Uncharted 2. Uncharted 4’s approach feels fresher.īesides, Uncharted 4 still has gunplay. However, a lot of games are about shooting people. I’m not trying to knock Uncharted 2 for having a lot of gunplay. You spend more time with other aspects of adventuring, like puzzle-solving and exploring. But now that I played Uncharted 4, focusing less on gunplay makes more sense for a Nathan Drake adventure. I love jumping in and out cover, shooting blindly at foes while rolling out of the way of enemy grenades. Some people criticize Uncharted’s shooting mechanics, but I’ve enjoyed them. However, it also becomes annoying when those new bad guys are difficult to kill and take a million shots to die, especially when you really just want to race to the end of the story. Now, for a pure shooter, adding a new kind of enemy can add excitement. It also avoids a trope that the other Uncharted games followed the final act doesn’t unleash a new type of enemy (always some sort of group of mystical beings that take a ton of shots to kill) right before the end. A Thief’s End has fewer mandatory battles. You can more easily avoid fights or run away from them. The last one-third emphasizes this, pitting players against hordes of enemies in unavoidable battles. At its core, it’s a third-person shooter. Basically, it depends on how much you like shooting things, because Among Thieves has a lot more gunplay. This one comes down a bit more to personal preference.
